HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Last night, a group of us attended the Disney's California Adventure Halloween Party. It was a blast seeing all of the kids dressed up and running around from kiosk to kiosk for candy treats.

Here is a nice one of the three of us.

Here are all of the kids (l to r: Camille, Mason, Shayna, Jake, & Madison). They had a great time!

Weekend Edition...

We celebrated this weekend by attending two birthday parties. It's funny... for 10 months out of the year, we have one or two parties. In the Fall (October/November) it's different! Some weekends during this time, we are attending 3 or 4 birthdays... in a weekend. I think that people should buy stock in Target because I certainly keep their earnings up!

Today was a special day, though. After attending my friend Lori's son, Jackson's, 2nd birthday party, me, my mom, and Shayna headed over to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts to see none other than, Lamb Chop. I know you're
thinking to yourself that Shari Lewis passed away in 1998, but her daughter, Mallory Lewis, has taken over the reins. She did a wonderful job and Shayna was soooo excited to see the "real" Lamb Chop. Shayna and I got to actually go on stage during the performance (we sat in the front row) so it was a real treat! I'm not sure how I got front row seats, as I bought my tickets online back in June. I took pictures of Shayna with Lamb Chop, but since Mark has the digital camera (he's in Utah, on a camping trip), I will have to actually wait until the "film" gets "developed." I don't know how people can stand using cameras that are not digital! When I get the film developed, I will have Costco make me a CD with the picts, so stay tuned! Check out Lamb Chop's website - Click Here!

Cough x 10 = YUCK!

Here's what I mean... At 4:00 pm this picture just doesn't really show what it actually looks like outside. Everything is a shade of UPS brown and pumpkin orange and the air is like the smoking section of an El Al flight!
Shayna and I just had to get out of the house today. We're going stir crazy! So we headed over to Pa's Pumpkin Patch... again... well, I had some leftover tickets for the pony rides, so we picked out some pumpkins and rode
ponies. I feel like I smoked a carton of non-filtered Camel cigarettes! BLAH!

We are about 25 miles from the closest fire (Santiago fire) and here's what is falling out of the lovely autumn sky...

Prayers and love go out to all who are affected by these horrible fires!

Cough... Cough...

It's not so bad getting over a sinus infection and horrible cough, then breathing some fresh Washington state air, to come back to Southern California and raging/smoky fires. Although we are in Long Beach, those Santa Ana's are driving all of that smoke towards to coast... Our skies are a UPS brown and the ash falling looks as if it is snowing. Shayna & I have only been venturing out of the house for 30 minutes at a time, once per day, to go grocery shopping. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll have some better air to breathe... although, it's unlikely. Prayers and hugs go out to the Lawrences, who live in San Diego... Go Red Sox!

OK...Where Do I Start?

It's been so long since my last post, that I have forgotten my Blogger password! Let me begin by saying that I had a sinus & ear infection for about a month before I went to see my doctor. A piece of advice... don't do that! Go right away! With 10 days of antibiotics under my belt, I am a new person! I can now actually breathe again, with the exception of the smoke/ashes that are swirling around outside from the all-encompassing fires raging in the region.

Mark and I went up to Seattle for the weekend to scope out an area to move to. We found some awesome places and even looked in some open houses. We have decided to put our house up for sale some time in January and move up to the Gig Harbor area. It is so beautiful up there. And.... you can actually breathe fresh air without smog!
Plus, Mark really needs to get out of L.A.!

We got into our rental car and headed over to
Pikes Market. I know that it's really touristy, but it's so nice over there! We had some lunch and jumped onto the ferry.

This was our view of Gig Harbor, from our apartment
we rented for 2 nights. It was a really great time and the first time in almost 2 years that Mark and I have spent so much time together... alone!

At the airport, we ran into one of our favorite "Survivor" contestants, Yau-Man! He was so nice and a lot taller than I thought he'd be! We talked for a few minutes, even though Mark thought I am an absolute idiot! Who cares... I told him that I was rooting for him and that he was an awesome person for giving that other contestant his brand new truck in exchange for immunity (although the other guy reneged!). Anyways, we parted ways and I got in the line to get on our plane. He actually found me and gave me his autograph on his Survivor postcard... what a nice guy!

Still SICK!

OK... I've made up my mind.. I'm going to go see a doctor. I have been sick for the past 6 weeks with only a couple of days in between that I felt just OK. We just switched over to Mark's company's health insurance and I have no clue how it works. It is not the typical HMO, so I'm thoroughly confused. I have an email in to his HR department, so they can email me back and tell me how the heck to do this.

So, the other night Shayna informed me that there were ghosts in her room. I asked her what they looked like. She replied, they look like ghosts." Well, duh! How could I be so stupid? So I asked her if it was a boy...girl...man...or woman. She said it was a woman. Now, this woman appears in her room whenever we're in there. Last night she actually told me that the "woman" was standing behind me holding a "knife." Holy crap! How would she know to say that, unless there really was a woman standing behind me with a knife! Kinda creepy, I think! Now that Halloween is so close, I am totally freaked out by the whole holiday! I've been trying to show Shayna as many creepy/scary things that I can find and passing them off as being funny and not scary!

One of our neighbors has been decorating his trees out in front of his house for the past 50 years. These faces are so cool. Shayna and I walked over there today to check them out. She loves to see these faces every day we drive by them. The guy usually takes the faces down on November 1st, so we only have a few weeks of fun in the car!

Sick... AGAIN!

I am (have been) sick for this past week, so my apologies for not updating the Blog. I have managed, though, to take Shayna to Pa's Pumpkin Patch in Seal Beach for some mid-morning fun. Guess I've been feeling sorry for her being cooped up in the house for days on end. This year, she's tall enough to ride the "Big Kid" rides!

They also have a petting zoo. Check out Shayna's shoes that she picked out to wear to the pumpkin patch! It was only 80 degrees out...

Then she went on the train ride with her new buddy, Dylan, who was wearing a 10 gallon cowboy hat and handcuffs on his belt loop. Shayna sure knows how to pick 'em! And, no, she didn't give Dylan any kisses, but she still loves to kiss her boy-friends at My-Gym. This week, they were kissing her, giving each other Eskimo kisses, and one boy was even playing with her hair! Their group is known as the "Make-Out Group!" Too funny! Next week I'll bring my camera!
